Fun Family Tournament

This was a family fun tournament with dad and son versus cousin and son-in-law.  Tournament rules was who catches the 1st fish and the longest fish.  Father and son team won with the 1st fish and one that was 20 inches long (probably a 4 1/2 pounder.

Father and Son Get Together

April 15th

VERY, VERY strong 50 mph winds gusting to 60 mph.   Bob and his son Bobby managed to catch about 14 fish.  This is a picture of Bobby with his 4 lb. largemouth.  Unfortunately Bob released his 4 pounder before I was able to snap his picture.

Neighbors Having Fun

Our neighbors went out just for fun in front of the RV park where we're staying.  Johnny caught his fish on a green pumpkin centipede carolina rig.

Allen caught an 8.8 on a split shot watermelon fluke.  They caught 11 fish that day.  It was a very nice sunny day.

Family Quality Time

Jodi & Gary (aka Whitecloud), Burness Stoner (aka Nubbin) and Kenny (aka Root) came in hopes of seeing Zach and Justin....They were a couple days early, no Zach.  A couple of days after Jodi's group went home, Zach and Justin came here again!
The severe winds and cold weather
didn't stop these two from catching numerous fish one of which was a 10 pound 1 ounce lunker  that Zach caught on a spinnerbait.  Unfortunately I have no pictures of Justin.  When e get them, I will post it to the blog in order to complete  this article.  We are so looking forward to more good times here on Lake Fork!!!

Gary took what he had learned from wife, Jodi, and caught so many really nice fish. He shared it with his brother, Kenny  and long time friend Nubbin.  Sure was sad to see everyone go home !! We were having so much fun.  Well we'll be here when you want to come back!!!

Sometimes small is better !!

When Jodi & Gary came to fish Lake Fork the weather couldn't have been worse.  We  had strong, nasty winds.  Jodi decided to go smaller baits than the rest so she used a 4" lizard instead of the 6 " most were using.  That proved to be a very good move since her 1st cast hauled in a 6 pounder.  Her second cast brought in this real nice 4 pounder.  You go  girl!!!!

More is Better

For Gary Howard aka White Cloud....We had such fun when the family came to visit and fish Lake Fork.  We all said Jodi could've helped huh?!  For those who can't tell what's on WC's face, it's not bird poop, it's just an overabundance of sun tan lotion !!!

All the way from Japan

Shin Tamatani only had 1/2 day but he made every minute count.  He caught 6 nice fish 4 of which were 1 five pounder, 2 four pounders, and three pounder.

Revenge on Lake Fork

Last year Will Allred and Matt Rompala came to lake fork in hopes of  catching a ton of fish.  The horrible weather just shut the fish down  This year however, Will and Matt came back to try their luck again.  Will caught a 6 lb. 12 oz. largemouth.  Matt caught a 6 pounder and guide, Jim Nolan caught a 6 lb. 15 oz largemouth.  We had a great day!

Father and Son Guide Trip

Randy Dowdy and Brandon Dowdy.......fished half a day with green pumpkin centipedes on a carolina rig.   Our day was cut short because Brandon got sick and had to come in early.  Randy Dowdy (dad) caught  one about 4 lbs.   And Brandon (son) caught one abou 3 - 31/2 lb. bass.

Evan though they caught 7 fish they were able to catch the largest  fish ever!

Hope you feel better Brandon!!

Changing of the Guard

April 5th and 6th

Weather predicts the outcome of fishing on any lake.  I took Jason King and Shaun O'Dell out the first day.  We had 35 mph winds gusting to 40.  We had a hard time fishing but still ended up with these nice fish.

Next day Jason went home and was replaced by his dad, Ronnie King.  Shaun O'Dell stayed to brave another day of high winds.  Despite the weather conditions, Shaun caught this nice fish.

Repeat of 2010

April 1, 2011
Brady Bradley and Greg Williams joined me again this year.  Brady caught a 7 pounder last year and started the trip this year with another 7 pounder.  Greg caught a 5.8 and a 4.8!

We caught numerous fish during the two days using zoom centipedes and finesse worms.  The weather was moderate and we had a great time!

Reap the Benefits

March 31, 2011...Tony Dime and Kevin Hillman fished with me last year.  They learned  to use a  spot remover at that time. (A lead headed hook with a flat bottom which helps it stand up)  It has a spring attached which allows the zoom green pumpkin finesse worm to attach securely and makes it weedless.

They were able to use this technique on Table Rock Lake in Missouri where they entered a Shriners tournamen placing 10th out of 300.
