Father and Son Get Together

April 15th

VERY, VERY strong 50 mph winds gusting to 60 mph.   Bob and his son Bobby managed to catch about 14 fish.  This is a picture of Bobby with his 4 lb. largemouth.  Unfortunately Bob released his 4 pounder before I was able to snap his picture.

Neighbors Having Fun

Our neighbors went out just for fun in front of the RV park where we're staying.  Johnny caught his fish on a green pumpkin centipede carolina rig.

Allen caught an 8.8 on a split shot watermelon fluke.  They caught 11 fish that day.  It was a very nice sunny day.

Family Quality Time

Jodi & Gary (aka Whitecloud), Burness Stoner (aka Nubbin) and Kenny (aka Root) came in hopes of seeing Zach and Justin....They were a couple days early, no Zach.  A couple of days after Jodi's group went home, Zach and Justin came here again!
The severe winds and cold weather
didn't stop these two from catching numerous fish one of which was a 10 pound 1 ounce lunker  that Zach caught on a spinnerbait.  Unfortunately I have no pictures of Justin.  When e get them, I will post it to the blog in order to complete  this article.  We are so looking forward to more good times here on Lake Fork!!!

Gary took what he had learned from wife, Jodi, and caught so many really nice fish. He shared it with his brother, Kenny  and long time friend Nubbin.  Sure was sad to see everyone go home !! We were having so much fun.  Well we'll be here when you want to come back!!!

Sometimes small is better !!

When Jodi & Gary came to fish Lake Fork the weather couldn't have been worse.  We  had strong, nasty winds.  Jodi decided to go smaller baits than the rest so she used a 4" lizard instead of the 6 " most were using.  That proved to be a very good move since her 1st cast hauled in a 6 pounder.  Her second cast brought in this real nice 4 pounder.  You go  girl!!!!

More is Better

For Gary Howard aka White Cloud....We had such fun when the family came to visit and fish Lake Fork.  We all said Jodi could've helped huh?!  For those who can't tell what's on WC's face, it's not bird poop, it's just an overabundance of sun tan lotion !!!

All the way from Japan

Shin Tamatani only had 1/2 day but he made every minute count.  He caught 6 nice fish 4 of which were 1 five pounder, 2 four pounders, and three pounder.

Revenge on Lake Fork

Last year Will Allred and Matt Rompala came to lake fork in hopes of  catching a ton of fish.  The horrible weather just shut the fish down  This year however, Will and Matt came back to try their luck again.  Will caught a 6 lb. 12 oz. largemouth.  Matt caught a 6 pounder and guide, Jim Nolan caught a 6 lb. 15 oz largemouth.  We had a great day!

Father and Son Guide Trip

Randy Dowdy and Brandon Dowdy.......fished half a day with green pumpkin centipedes on a carolina rig.   Our day was cut short because Brandon got sick and had to come in early.  Randy Dowdy (dad) caught  one about 4 lbs.   And Brandon (son) caught one abou 3 - 31/2 lb. bass.

Evan though they caught 7 fish they were able to catch the largest  fish ever!

Hope you feel better Brandon!!

Changing of the Guard

April 5th and 6th

Weather predicts the outcome of fishing on any lake.  I took Jason King and Shaun O'Dell out the first day.  We had 35 mph winds gusting to 40.  We had a hard time fishing but still ended up with these nice fish.

Next day Jason went home and was replaced by his dad, Ronnie King.  Shaun O'Dell stayed to brave another day of high winds.  Despite the weather conditions, Shaun caught this nice fish.

Repeat of 2010

April 1, 2011
Brady Bradley and Greg Williams joined me again this year.  Brady caught a 7 pounder last year and started the trip this year with another 7 pounder.  Greg caught a 5.8 and a 4.8!

We caught numerous fish during the two days using zoom centipedes and finesse worms.  The weather was moderate and we had a great time!

Reap the Benefits

March 31, 2011...Tony Dime and Kevin Hillman fished with me last year.  They learned  to use a  spot remover at that time. (A lead headed hook with a flat bottom which helps it stand up)  It has a spring attached which allows the zoom green pumpkin finesse worm to attach securely and makes it weedless.

They were able to use this technique on Table Rock Lake in Missouri where they entered a Shriners tournamen placing 10th out of 300.

Joseph Treats New In-laws

Joseph Shannon Cole treated his father-in-law, Scott and brother-in-law, Dan to a day on Lake Fork.

Of the twelve fish boated, Dan and Scott caught the majority.  Joseph didn't want it any other way so it was a successful day.

The fish were caught on watermelon/candy/red lizards.  The largest fish being 6lbs.1oz. was caught on  a zoom finnesse worm.

Thanks guys...come back and see me !

First Time Fishing for Bass

Suzi Stark has fished for many species of fish but this was her 1st time to bass fish.

Starting the morning out right, on her first cast she caught a 4lb.13oz. bass.  On her second cast she caught a 6lb. 9oz. bass !!  That got her fired up and she went on to catch several more bass during the day.

Good job Suzi !  Come back soon, I enjoyed the day.

Mini Tournament Amongst Friends

Wednesday we had 35 mile an hour winds and a short time to fish.  The friendly tournament was on it's way.  We had less than 6 hours to fish so Matt and David went to work.  They landed 6 bass with Matt catching a 5lb.9oz largemouth.  They won their tournament !  Good job guys !!!  Come see me again, I enjoyed the day !

Uncle Treats Nephew to Fishing Trip

David Robinson took his nephew, Michael on a fishing trip to Lake Fork. This was the first time to bass fish for both of them.

David caught a 4lb.1oz. and Michael caught a 4lb.3oz. for their largest bass ever !

We were using watermelon with red flake flukes and finesse worms.

Thank you for choosing me as your guide.  Hopefully we'll see each other in the future.  Happy Fishing !!

Tough Day Fishing

I'm back on track today.  I took Jordan Zurn and Collin Huddleston fishing today.  It was very tough. We caught 9 fish.  I think the fish are on beds and aren't paying attention to baits, however Jordan caught a 4.9 and Collin caught a 4.8.  We are using a short leader carolina rig with a watermelon/red flake fluke.

Everyday is a good day when you're fishing.  Thank you Jordan and Collin!

Brothers Double

I'm a day behind in my postings.  This guide trip was actually Saturday the 19th.

I took Randy and Jim Young out and it was actually tough fishing.  We caught nine
but Jim did catch a 7lb. 9oz. bass the same time his brother Randy caught a solid 3
pounder.

I have to tell this funny story about Jim.  Sorry Jim!  When I took Jim's picture with
his 7lb. 9oz. bass, I notice his life jacket was on inside out.  I asked him  "how did
you get in your life jacket"? He said "I put it over my head and slid into it".  I asked
"how did you get it zipped"?  He said "it wasn't easy"!

We had a good time.  Thank you Jim and Randy.  Great fun!

Nine Plus Pounds

I took Steve Nielsen and Kevin Porche out today.  This morning was really slow.  We
did manage to boat approximately 18 fish including a 9lb. 9oz. kicker.  What fun that was!

We were throwing watermelon/red flake flukes at the bank and bringing back into about 4 foot of water using a short leader carolina rig with watermelon/red
flake flukes.

Suspended Fish

Had a great time today, Wednesday, March 16th with Ken Bueche and son, Mike.

We caught  approximately 25 fish and everyone  of them were nice chunky fish.
Mike was thrilled with his 7 pounder and I caught a 7lb. 4oz.

We caught these fish suspended in trees with a rogue.  What fun we had.

Shallow Fishing

Had a pretty good day today considering conditions.  The fish are pre-spawn to spawn and very timid.

We went from heavy weight carolina rigs to very light, short carolina rigs.  We were fishing shallow and very very slow, casting blindly at the bank.

I had a father-son party.  The dad lost about a 5 pounder at the boat.  He turned to his son and said "that was catch and release".  The son replied to the dad, "you're suppose to get the fish IN the boat before releasing".  There was a lot of kidding going on during the day.  Very enjoyable.  Good fishing to all!!
